MAY 2025
Today, May 13th 2025, is exactly 75 years to the day since The Grand Prix D’Europe launched what we now know as the Formula One World Championship.
The perfect occasion to give you an update on the activities of Racing Past Media and our efforts to support the anniversary celebrations.
Our work on the restoration of the BRM Film archive is progressing well but there is also an exciting project with British Pathe to announce along with a new partnership with an outstanding stills library.
And for rally fans we are pleased to announce that our classic rally archive is about to be fully available on the hub for all registered viewers.
RPM PARTNERS WITH GIRARDO
Racing Past Media is to expand its range of services by entering into a new research partnership with the international motor sport stills archive owned by Oxfordshire based classic car specialists Girardo and Co.
Great archive projects often work best when moving pictures are combined with well selected stills and RPM will now be able to provide a research service supplementing its film and video content with hand picked stills from one of the best libraries in the sport.
Girardo and Co welcomed the new partnership with this statement.
With decades of collective experience at the top of the worldwide collector-car market, Girardo & Co. has established itself as a leader in the sourcing and marketing of the world’s greatest historic road and competition vehicles.
To complement its extensive library of literature and information, Girardo & Co. acquired Photo4 in 2020. The famous Italian archive comprises in excess of five million largely unseen photos, documenting premier national and international motorsport events from 1980 to the present day, with a particular emphasis on rallying and Formula 1.
It is this collection that perfectly complements the growing body of material that makes up the Racing Past Media archive.
We are delighted to offer programme makers, content creators and also classic car owners an extra element to their research; a swift and imaginative video and stills service in partnership with the great team at Girardo & Co..
"At Girardo & Co., we live and breathe motorsport history, be it the ice-cool characters, the knee-weakening cars or the indescribable oil-infused atmosphere. Our extensive archive serves as a vital research tool for us and many others. Sharing it with Racing Past Media and complementing its wealth of extraordinary material was a no-brainer.” - Max Girardo
For further information and access to the Girardo & Co. Archive, please contact Peter Macalpine or Ryenne Brewer at archive@girardo.com or Richard Wiseman at info@racingpastmedia.com

INTERNATIONAL RALLYING READY TO VIEW
Racing Past media have completed the cataloguing and digitisation of the former BHP archive and now, in association with the new owners Dirtfish are able to make it available to all those registered on the RPM digital hub.
The archive comprises over a hundred hours of quality coverage and storytelling, focused on the classic years of the seventies and the dramatic Group B years of the eighties
The material will be on line within the next week meaning that subscribers now have full viewing and research access to both the International Rallying and Formula One collections.
RPM WORKING WITH BRITISH PATHÉ
In an exciting research development Racing Past Media have agreed to collaborate with British Pathé to give wider exposure and access to its archive of Formula One.
British Pathe are famous for the finest newsreel archive in the world generated over an eighty year period to the end of the 1970’s.
We look forward to how the partnership will develop and what great content will be found.
In the meantime we have put together a short edit of the kind of motor racing material that British Pathé have generated down the years.
