Steve Rider Honoured with Awards

Two further awards have come the way of Racing Past Media founder Steve Rider, marking his retirement after 48 years of live sports broadcasting.

At the 2025 British Touring Car Championship prize presentation, Steve became only the third recipient of The TOCA Cup.

According to the Championship, "The award is presented only occasionally and recognises a unique and superlative contribution to the Championship."

Five days later Steve was on stage at the London Hilton, receiving the 'Special Recognition' award at The Broadcast Sports Awards, acknowledging "an outstanding contribution to sports broadcasting across a long and varied career."

In accepting the award Steve said, "If there is one thing I have learnt over the last forty odd years in broadcasting it is the value of archive content. It needs to be recognised, valued, preserved and made accessible because this is where the great storytelling comes from."

That work clearly goes on, embodied by projects such as Racing Past Media.
