End of an Era

After 48 years in front of the camera, Racing Past Media founder Steve Rider finally called time on his wide ranging live presenting career in an emotional day at The British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.

In thanking the teams and marshals for their support down the years, he said;

"It was a fantastic farewell that reminded me of the friendships and enjoyment that broadcasting motor sport has given me since the late seventies."

But he added that it was now time to concentrate on the opportunities being presented as the Racing Past Media project comes to fruition.

"It is not just Formula One with the new research relationships with the BBC and European Broadcasting Union, but RPM will be becoming the destination for much more exciting content such as The Supertouring era and classic Formula Three. I will miss the buzz of live television but, retirement ?....not just yet."
